Banan’s Journey Into Handicrafts

رحلة بنان والحرف اليدوية

2D Animation ⁕ Character Animation ⁕ Children’s Animation ⁕ Music Video

This project is a 2D animated children’s music video commissioned by the Ministry of Culture in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi International Handicrafts Week.

With a team of over 20, we delivered a beautifully crafted music video that explores the handicrafts of Saudi Arabia.

On this project, I mainly worked on Animation and Clean-up & Color. However, I assisted with Storyboarding and Animatics as well.

The animation software used for this project was Toon Boom Harmony.

Process Videos

For this scene, I worked on rough animation for all of the characters, tools, and transitions. I worked on clean-up and color for the girl (Banan), the cat, and hammer.

I went through a few challenges, but I’m incredibly thankful to the Director @ramada_3w3_ and Senior Animator @ammar_2d for the endless help and feedback.

As you can see, the top video is before posture changes for Banan. And the second is after feedback and changes, which is a lot more dynamic.

This dancing Dallah was first an animation test I created for the team. Its purpose was to show the animation style we were going for, which was heavily inspired by Beauty and the Beast - Be Our Guest.

The Dallah ended up being in the final cut of the video, dancing with all the other objects.

It was a lot of fun animating Safsaf, the yarn cat. I did the full pipeline animation, from rough animation to clean up and color.

For the final scenes, almost the whole team was working on them. Our teamwork was impeccable.

After the dancing Dallah, I had the opportunity to animate another object for the finale scene which is the Mabkhara. It was my first time animating objects with this project, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
